The square drive is introduced as Type III in IFI 7th. Also, introduced are combined drive systems reflecting the expressed needs of users. IFI recommends that when selecting a head style for machine screws, the first design consideration be given to following five head styles:
- Flat Countersunk
- Oval Countersunk
- Pan
- Hex
- Hex Washer
